Our Garden By-Laws



                             Article I - Our Name / Our Objective 
A) 
We are the Sherman Avenue Community Garden and our objective is promoting also encouraging participation in enhancing our environment through agricultural education, gardening tutorials and community based events to create a productive garden also a positive recreational landscape within our neighborhood the entire community can enjoy.
B)
The Sherman Avenue Community Garden Association is a community based organization working in complete agreement with all requirements & guidelines stated by  Bronx Land & Trust also GreenThumb NYC.
(Sherman Avenue Garden Association is currently managed byThe So What Society℠ LLC 2015)

                                 Article II - Memberships & Dues
A)
Membership is available to any household and or small organization within the immediate community.
B)
All members/memberships will be required to sign a Membership Contract in agreement with abiding all S.A.C.G. By-Laws and will be evaluated also signed by S.A.C.G. Executive Staff (management).
C)
Memberships shall run from April 1 - September 1, any household / small organization may reserve membership between Sept 2 - March 31 by contacting a S.A.C.G. executive staff member.
D)
Sherman Avenue Community Garden provides 3 types of membership available to the community.

1) - Basic Membership: Open to all within the immediate community. Basic members will have access to garden with active gardener, premium member & or executive staff member present, usage of member restroom, hose, barbecue equipment (when available) also the ability to participate in the organization of community garden events.

2) - Gardener Membership: This membership is limited and based on plots/beds availability. This membership includes private access to garden, 1 flower bed/produce plot, usage of member restroom, usage of all garden also barbecue equipment, access to gardener tool storage closet.

3) - Premium Membership: This membership must be voted and agreed among S.A.C.G. Executive Staff (management). This membership includes private access to garden, 1 flower bed/produce plot, personal storage locker, ability to borrow staff tools, ability to participate in staff meetings, usage of member restroom, hose, barbecue equipment, access to gardener tool storage closet.

                                Article III - Member Meetings & Duties
A)
There will be three (3) member meetings during open gardening season. Meetings are the forum for members to share their input & or concerns towards improvement / enhancement of the garden.
B)
Member responsibilities / duties are mandatory for all active memberships, responsibilities / duties vary depending on type of membership.

1) - Gardener Memberships will meet with executive staff (management) concerning flower beds/ produce plots, physical changes, improvements & or enhancements made in garden.

                                        Article IV - Standing Rules

A)
Any breach of membership contract will result in immediate termination of membership once thoroughly reviewed by management.
B)
No visitor, member or gardener may enter staff areas & or office unless authorized to do so by one (1) of the four (4) executive staff (management).



C)
Gardeners must maintain flower beds / produce plots regularly and must not enter, touch, change, plant, prune or remove anything from another gardeners flower bed / produce plot under any circumstances whatsoever.
